The children in this class set their own schedules. Parents record for the teachers the child’s sleeping habits and feeding routine and the teachers use that as a guideline to care for the child each day. Teachers will communicate with the parents daily when and for how long the child slept, when and how much the child ate and when their diapers were changed and why. Each child has its own space in the classroom and children do not share cribs. Children do share bouncy seats, swings and floor spaces. Furniture and toys are sanitized on a regular basis. This classroom has a nursing room available for moms that wish to nurse during the day. Heritage CDC provides the linens for the cribs, bibs and wipes. Parents are responsible for the child’s food, diapers and any creams or ointments needed for diapering.
Rainbows
Bouncin’ Bunnies
The children are beginning to move at a very quick pace. Bunnies are not very respectful of other personal spaces and this may cause conflict. Children will lash out at friends that are in the way, sitting too close, bumping into them, taking their toys and breathing their air. Children in this class are beginning to enjoy “helping” their teachers. Sometimes these children will still want to cling to favorite blankets and toys. Bunnies begin to know friends names when they are called. These children love to dance to music! Bunnies are beginning to use their mouths for talking and eating and some still will use them for biting…other people.
Sunshines
The Sunshines teachers will love on your children. Help them discover the world around them. Help them learn to entertain themselves, to get along with the friends in their class and will help teach them to make choices and to challenge them to learn new things.
Little Lambs
The children are beginning to jump up and down and climb on furniture. Beginning to call their friends by their names. They enjoy stories and songs. They will “strike back” when offended. Some have begun to push, some may still bite others when frustrated. Children this age, love to sing songs. Children love to be helpers to their teachers. Some children may begin to potty train before they are two years of age but most begin at the age of 24 months.
